Roner Marcelo edited this topic ages ago. It appears to use the dcraw program to manipulate images. There is the rawstudio for those using linux. Need a little time for practice but it works fine (I'm not happy with it, raws from my 350D always come out noisy as the shot was underexposed and then pushed but I seem to be the only one addressing this problem) Take a look to Rawtherapee, not free but almost, the author ask just for a donation. IMO raw conversion and image manipulation are different topics, most of the time u just need do acquire the image. There's also a nice noise removal function too, AFAIR the "threshold" setting in ufraw gimp plugin. Recent gimp + ufraw is pretty easy to use now, I find it most useful in adjusting exposure levels. I usually shoot raw + large jpg, switching to large jpg only to save space (while shooting). I've been using raw a lot more recently with canon 20d images. I use it with the Olympus E-500 (*.orf files) and both the ufraw plugin als the standalone version work fine.Īnd it does depend on a lot on the camera, since each manufacturer seems to have their own raw format.
